Awesome! Just before the Easter weekend a joyous email was sent around the FoxT offices: BoKS version 6.6.1 is now officially ready for release. Oh happy day!
New features in v.6.6.1 are:
- xRBAC Role management. BoKS Manager 6.6 is now capable of centrally managing platform-specific RBAC systems for the following platforms: Oracle Solaris 10 sparc & x86/x64, IBM AIX 6.1, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 on x86/x64.
- Replication enhancement. BoKS' database replication has been adjusted to cope better with high network latency environments.
- Stronger password hashing. New algorithms supported include MD5, Blowfish, SHA1 and SHA512.
- Stronger bridge encryption. BoKS Manager 6.6.1 adds 256-bit AES encryption as the default for internal communication between BoKS hosts (bridge encryption).
- Longer RSA keys. Key lengths of 4096-bits are now supported for all certificates. For CA certificates, 8192-bits are added in BoKS Manager 6.6.1.
- Chroot support for SSH subsystems. It is now possible to specify a chroot for individual SSH sub-services such as SFTP, SCP or Shell access. Chroots no longer apply to all SSH subsystems in one blow allowing for more customization.
- "To-user" environment variables for suexec. Suexec now loads the destination user's environment and changes to his home directory.
Aside from new features, BoKS 6.6.1 also includes no less than 46 bug fixes and modifications which were requested by various customers. Oh happy day indeed!
