The big presentation at NLUUG is three weeks away and I've been practicing my presentation. Next week I'll do a preview / trial run at Proxy Services, to get into the groove. To be honest I'm quite anxious about the whole deal. *shudder*

Menno nails the points there. I've done so many presentations now in the last 3 months for huge crowds of unknown people. Once I had to pitch an entire business idea which took over 1.5 years to create, in 3 minutes. Believe in yourself and what you present. And indeed.. just be yourself. It's okay to be nervous or anxious, just accept it and go with the flow. It will fade after a while once you get comfortable on the chopping block :)

You will do fine. I know you do.
And remember the listeners are coming for YOUR story so they don't mind you're a bit nervous.
I'm preparing my backup lecture today for this event: http://www.rug.nl/cit/symposiumLifehacking

I'm sure you know what you're doing but here's some presentation tips:
-act in a way that fits you. Don't try to be someone else. Keep it congruent.
-keep an open and relaxed body language (hands out of pockets, no pen in your hand to fidget with etc.)
-First impressions: groom yourself carefully. It's better to be overdressed than underdressed.
-Acknowledge your anxiety to yourself. Don't try to stuff it away. It's ok to be anxious, almost everybody is for a presentation. Don't focus on your anxiety, focus on your well prepared presentation and the content that you master.
-Adres individuals. Take some time before you start for your adience to setlle, make a joke or two. When everyone quitet down a little you can start your presentation in a relaxed way. No need to rush.
Hope it helps.
