The design and code behind the new site is about 98% done, but there's still one thing that irks me. Apparently fonts are rendered very differently when you compare OS X and Windows.
The new design looks wonderful in Safari and Firefox on OS X, but some of the DIVs are not wide enough on Windows. Why the heck is it that "verdana 10pt" isn't the same size everywhere?! On OS X the menus look neat and tidy. On Windows the characters get huge and start wrapping around to a new line. Meh...
I'll have to bang on that a little bit more :/

I've no problems with Firefox on Windows... looks neat and tidy :)

Hmm.... Might be down to my laptop at work then. But still, I like to come prepared for any eventualities...

Actually, no :p
Both my Apples and Rene's laptop show the new site just fine. It's my work laptop that's borking things up. And that one's definitely running Windows. :D

What, really? Since when do we specify font sizes in pixels, instead of points? o_O

'pt' is for printing, not web display.
1pt is not the same across computers, as it varies with DPI and other such things. 1px, however, is 1px everywhere.

Oh wow, that totally explains it!
Thanks MK and Collin! You've helped me a lot! I'll go fix that asap :)

Also, now that I have Windows XP running in Parallels, I can properly test my new website code from Windows as well!

yeah, we noticed that this week as well...we're redoing our work website and we were doing all of the work on a Mac...we thought we had picked the perfect font about 5 times only to find that it looked TERRIBLE on the PC. D:

I've decided not to care too much. The website is there for my fun and it's been like this for years. The font problem that is, because it's not something new that happened at the redesign. So hey... My visitors are used to it :P
