Well, this is new :)
It's been a long while, but I've gotten into drawing comics again! But this time they're not of the usual "let's draw a comic about my boring life"-stock, but you'll be surprised to see that these comics span multiple pages and that they actualy have a story! :p Oh! And another change from the original comics is the fact that these new comics (dubbed 'The misadventures of Cailin') are in full-color!

Wai! Wai! Hoe! I'm having so much fun drawing these full colour comics!
I always was in the opinion that I couldn't do any _real_ comics because I lacked any story telling skills and because I didn't have a writer to cooperate with. Well, I started working on page 1 of 'The misadventures of Cailin' just as a lark, but now the story just kind of comes by itself ^_^ I don't pretend to be any more than I am, so I'll probably get stuck in a couple of pages, but I've already gotten three pages inked and two up on the site.
Of course I would be delighted should a serious story writer decide that he or she needs a mediocre artist to put their story into ink. Maybe together we could make a story worth while reading ^_^
In the meantime I hope that you'll enjoy the 'Misadventures of Cailin'.

As the title on comic 11 says: "It's been a while..."
Not only have I taken a break from my website, but I also didn't get any drawing done. So comic eleven sums up the last couple of months (very tersely though :p) and has an added bonus: it's in full colour! ^_^ Wai!

Oh my gosh! When it rains, it pours ^_^
I've been getting nice ideas for anime-inspired sewing projects all day now! Not only have I been thinking about how I _could_ get Marlijnes Beldandy dress ready for the con, but I've also been toying with a new idea ~nyo!
And "~nyo" is right! :3 While piling through our closet I found one of Mar's old, comfy shirts which I decided I could use as the basis for a nice kitty-costume like the stuff Piro wears on MegaTokyo. Check the sidebar for a couple of new images: the original shirt and a design sketch.
Only problem is: cloth costs money and I also promised Mar that if I'd sew something for myself, that I'd also be bound to make her Beldandy dress -_-' Choices, choices, choices :p
PS I've been sketching some chibi cosplay designs for the personas I've mentioned and put'em up in the 'Comic' section. Check entries 6 through 8 in the sidebar, under 'Cailin'.

*phew* A _lot_ of things have happened since the last time that I visited this place -_-
Let me start with the worst news possible. A couple of weeks ago Mar's father passed away after a short (luckily) sickbed. He'd been diagnosed with lung cancer a couple of months ago, which was treated succesfully. Everything seemed fine, until a couple of weeks ago, when the docs found out that he also had tumors in his head. After that everything went rapidly downhill... I'll leave it at that.
It goes without saying that Henk will be dearly missed. ;_; You were one of the greatest!
After that , how can anything I have to say measure up? -_-' I guess life goes on and Mar and me are both doing surprisingly well.
Life on this side of the rock is progressing fairly well. I'm finaly on a short break, having taken one week of from work which is immediately followed up by a week's course at Sun Microsystems. Work at the office progressing nicely, although I _have_ painted myself into a couple of corners. Oh well! I have noone but myself to blame for that ^_^.
Like I said: Mar's doing pretty good too. She finaly found a job too! It may be an inbetweener, but it'll get her some money for the holiday season :)
Preparations for the Anime2003 convention are also on their way. As I said a couple of months ago I'll be Goperhing at the con and I've helped out with distributing flyers and posters throughout Utrecht. It was nice visiting all of the comicbook stores which I'd visited regularly when I was still in school.

As promised I've scanned the three pages of designs for my A2003 cosplay costume. Not that I'll be making any of it anytime soon, but hey! You never know when it'll come in handy. At least it was a nice exercise in design since it had been a while...
In the mean while I've been thinking of dressing up as Tetsu Hayami, the main character from "Blue Submarine 6", since that would've been an easy costume and I already have loads of the accesoiries anyway. Who knows? Maybe I'll go visit some army dump and get the required clothes ^_^ Anyway. It was either Tetsu or Karl from "Serial Experiments Lain".
Unfortunately Mar's quite disappointed that she won't be dressing up as Beldandy. We really don't have the money for all of the cloth needed to make her Goddess dress, so we'll have to find something else for her (or maybe she'll just have to go in her 'mundanes' just like the rest of the sane people :p).
